How to Add Primitive Decor Pieces Into Your Home

Are you wondering how to add in some primitive decor pieces into your home? I am sharing some great pieces to give you some ideas!

I always thought of my style as more vintage farmhouse than anything but lately I tend to be adding in more primitive pieces. Primitive pieces also have that rustic look that melds beautifully with vintage farmhouse. So I am going to share with you my tips for adding in a little more primitive to make it look a little more updated with your current style. I have been working with Red Fox Primitives and they sent me a few pieces to try out. These pieces are the perfect ways to add in that primitive look without going overboard.

Large Riser in Heavy Distressed Black

This piece is the perfect addition to any style. They offer lots of colors but I chose black because I knew I wanted to use it in my kitchen which has lots of black accents. This piece is on my round kitchen table and it is the perfect size for this space. It does come in a smaller size as well. I get lots of questions about my other wood pieces I use as risers but they were lucky vintage finds whereas this piece does the same job and has that rustic look.

I love to use it as a centerpiece for a table or island. It would also be cute in a bathroom on the counter. There are so many uses for it. I have a plant, a pumpkin and a cute lantern on mine but oh goodness you could decorate it with so many other things.

Seed Box in Heavy Distressed Black

I wanted one of their box pieces and when I saw their seed box I knew it would be perfect. It has a cute pull out drawer to store all kinds of things to keep clutter at bay. I used mine in my kitchen on the counter and stored my car keys and linens in the drawer. You could store chargers or phones in it as well. The tall back got me because you can decorate the top and prop something up against it, like a cute sign.

I love functional pieces that are also part of your decor. Put a cute candle wreath and my thrifted battery operated candles on top and instant cuteness. This adds such a cute primitive vibe to a kitchen counter without taking up too much space. This piece also comes in other colors as well and different levels of distressing.

Wreath Box

This piece was on my wish list for a while and it was worth the wait. I absolutely love it and oh the possibilities are endless! It is perfect for your wooden bowls or cute small wreaths. I personally have a couple of my primitive smaller bowls and a candle wreath in mine. This piece is so versatile and can be used year round. Mine is the stone color again with heavy distressing because I love really distressed pieces. I envision Christmas greenery and ornaments in it for the next season. You can hang it on the wall or sit it on a table or shelf as well.

Farmhouse Lantern

I fell in love with this lantern because of the different ways you can use it. You can hang it from a peg rack or sit it on a table or shelf. It came with a timer taper candle and candle wreath so I leave the door open and let the nice glow of the candle shine through. I have mine sitting on my riser on my kitchen table as well.

Primitive style pieces are so versatile and add a warm and welcoming feel to any home. I think they just say come in and get cozy, they look worn and loved just like a home should be.
