The Ultimate Guide to a Cozy Entryway

The first impression you create when someone steps into your home is your entryway. I know that not everyone has a big entryway so I am going to give you some tips on how to make yours cozy and welcoming no matter the size. I think your entryway should be a reflection of how your home is decorated. You also want it to be functional for visitors and your family. Let’s chat about what I feel are some essentials you may need to get started making a cozy entryway.

A Peg or Hook Rack Will be a Great Addition to a Cozy Entryway

This is so handy especially if you don’t have a closet to hang jackets or hats. If you are blessed to have a hall closet for people to hang up these items than consider it a piece of functional decor. You can hang all kinds of seasonal items off of this to give off a cozy vibe. I personally have one and love to hang some favorite decor pieces off mine. The key to cozy is to mix textures and this is an easy way to do that. I have a twig wreath next to a soft grain sack. The mix of the two different textures just make it pleasing to the eye. You can hang a basket of faux flowers on it to add in some color.

A Sign or Piece of Art makes a Cozy Entryway

I love adding in a sign with a sweet saying that might represent my family or our home life. If you are not a sign person look for a great piece of art. It could be a thrift find or a funky piece you found at an antique shop that best represents your style. This instantly gives your guests an idea of your style. When you walk into my home you see chippy white vintage furniture and that is exactly what I love.

A Bench if You Have Space

I have a small entry space but I actually am able to fit in a cute rustic old bench. It adds character and function. People can use it to sit on if they wish to take their shoes off or they can put a handbag or other item they brought with them on it while they visit. In my case it just holds more decor and looks cute. If you don’t have room for a bench look for an old chair to go under the peg rack. I like to use this as a functional space filler. It takes up the open space but can also be very functional.

Pillows Equal Cozy

Pillows are a great way to create a cozy entryway. Pillows instantly say comfortable. If you have a bench or chair in your entry space than of course add in a pillow or two! My favorites are vintage ticking but again I love all things vintage. I would add in a color scheme that matches the areas around your entry. I would not add in any with words if you chose a sign with words.

Lighting is perfect for a Cozy Entryway

I personally have one of my favorite statement pieces in my entry space which is my chippy white cabinet. I love adding in a lamp to this area because sometimes overhead lighting can be to harsh. Lamps just make any space cozy. They can also look cute in a vignette. They can add height or take up a bigger space than a piece of decor.

A Rug

A nice rug is perfect to add into your entryway space. I love to add a fun pop of color here with a bold vintage rug that I found at the thrift shop for wait for it…fifteen dollars!!! You want to make sure the rug fits the space nicely but also hides dirt because it will be a high traffic area. I would go with a color scheme that flows with the room it is closest to. I love how rugs can transform a space. So if your entryway looks like it may be missing something try adding in a rug.
